MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421010545 A) filed by Dr. Walke Pravin Sopanrao, Maharashtra, on Feb. 15, 2024, for 'construction of hetero-nanostructured materials for energy storage devices and fabrication methods.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Walke Pravin Sopanrao; Mr. Jaiswar Rajesh Ramchandar; and Mr. Nishad Harishchandra Sabhajeet.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention discloses a unique report of VO2/VS hetero-nanostructures prepared by chemical vapor deposition at optimum condition. The advantage of CVD is favoring growth of sulfur in to the V2O5 matrix to construct VO2/VS hetero-nanostructures at suitable temperature. The VO2/VS hetero-nanostructure has suitable characteristics as a cathode material for various energy storage devices, especially supercapacitors and batteries like Li+, Na+, Zn2+- Ca2+, Mg2+, Al3+ etc. The VO2/VS hetero-nanostructure exhibited the excellent electrochemical preformation in Aqueous Zn ion Battery (AZIB) with specific capacity of 291 mAh g-1 at a low current density of 0.2 A g-1. The AZIB demonstrated a capacity retention of 104 % after 100 cycles at a current density of 3 A g-1 with total working voltage of 1.6 V in aqueous electrolyte (Zn (CF3SO3)2). The high rate performance has validated by 91 % capacity retention up to 1000 charge/discharge cycles at a higher current density of 5 Ag-l. Correspondingly, it has huge potential as a cathode material for other energy storage devices."
