MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411010144 A) filed by Teerthanker Mahaveer University, Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 14, 2024, for 'writing assistive device for amputee.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Ravindra Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A writing assistive device for amputee, comprising a frame 1 worn by a user over extreme end of forearm which is detected by a touch sensor, motorized roller 2 arranged on frame 1 for rotating to fasten a strap 3 to secure the frame 1 on forearm, a chamber 4 for storing writing tools, a motorized iris lid 5 mapped on chamber 4 which opens and allows a robotic arm 11 arranged on frame 1 to grip tool from chamber 4 and engage within a cylindrical member 6 arranged on front portion of frame 1 which is gripped by six clamping unit 10 arranged in the member 6, a microphone 7 for receiving voice command of user regarding a word or sentence, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 8 for monitoring position of surface, and a pivot joint 9 tilts tool as per fed words to perform writing on surface."
