MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641086443 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on July 15, 2026, for “a- Abwiasare Explainable Artificial Intelligence System For Generating Disease-Risk Decision-Support Information From Patient-Associated Data”.
Inventor includes Parthasarathy G.
The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a bias-aware explainable artificial intelligence system and method for generating disease-risk decision-support information from patient-associated data. The system receives demographic, clinical, behavioural and medical- history parameters and preprocesses the received data by cleaning, normalization and feature selection. A trained machine-learning prediction engine processes the preprocessed data to generate an individualized disease-risk probability, while an explainability engine determines feature-importance and patient-specific feature-impact information. A counterfactual analysis engine selectively modifies one or more modifiable feature values and determines a counterfactual data state associated with a reduced predicted risk relative to a target-risk value. A fairness assessment engine evaluates group-specific prediction behaviour across demographic or socioeconomic groups using prediction and outcome parameters. A decision-support interface concurrently presents the risk probability, feature-level explanations, counterfactual feature modifications and fairness-assessment information, thereby providing transparent, interpretable and bias-aware disease-risk decision support.
