MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611067961 A) filed by Dit University on May 30, 2026, for “a Polyherbal Scented M-Orsepquellenito T Candle Formulation ”.

Inventors include Akhil Thapliyal; Shivani Negi; Shambhavi Tiwari; Piyush Kumar; and Dr. Ritu Tomar.

The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the formulation and standardization of a polyherbal scented mosquito-repellent candle comprising a blend of plant-derived essential oils incorporated into a wax matrix. The formulation includes neem, clove, cinnamon, eucalyptus, lemongrass, and rosemary oils, along with natural colouring agents and a wick for controlled combustion. The candle is prepared by melting wax, adding essential oils and colourants, and casting into moulds. Upon ignition, volatile compounds are gradually released, creating an aromatic vapour that repels mosquitoes. The formulation exhibits uniform structure, controlled burning rate, minimal smoke emission, and satisfactory fragrance retention. Stability studies confirm consistent performance over storage. Biological evaluation demonstrates significant mosquito repellency with measurable mortality under test conditions. The invention provides a natural, non-toxic, and eco-friendly alternative to chemical repellents with additional aromatherapeutic benefits. Fig 1 to 6.
