Responsive to identifying the presence of the one or more hydrogen leak sources, the method includes supplying a hydrogen-non-reactive gas into the hydrogen-containing engine compartment to pressurize the hydrogen-containing engine compartment to a pressure threshold. Responsive to a 10 pressure in the hydrogen-containing engine compartment exceeding the pressure threshold, the method further includes venting gas from the hydrogen-containing engine compartment to maintain a pressure at or below the pressure threshold.
