Abstract: ABSTRACT A method of inerting hydrogen gas includes identifying the presence of one or more 5 hydrogen leak sources within an engine fuel system and isolating the one or more hydrogen leak sources within a hydrogen-containing engine compartment of the engine fuel system. Responsive to identifying the presence of the one or more hydrogen leak sources, the method includes supplying a hydrogen-non-reactive gas into the hydrogen-containing engine compartment to pressurize the hydrogen-containing engine compartment to a pressure threshold. Responsive to a 10 pressure in the hydrogen-containing engine compartment exceeding the pressure threshold, the method further includes venting gas from the hydrogen-containing engine compartment to maintain a pressure at or below the pressure threshold.
