Inventors include Dr. Sachin A. Dhawale; Jadhav Aaditi Nandkumar; Priyanka Madan Mane; Dr. Sadhana Bharat Mahajan; Ms. Geetanjali G. Patil; Arundhati Vilasrao Deokar; and Dr. Mangesh S. Ghodke.
The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.
Abstract: The invention discloses beta-cyclodextrin inclusion complexes of daidzein and genistein, including binary daidzein-beta-cyclodextrin and genistein-beta-cyclodextrin complexes and a ternary daidzein-genistein-beta-cyclodextrin complex, prepared by solvent evaporation or co-precipitation. The complexes improve physicochemical performance of poorly soluble isoflavones and exhibit anticancer activity against MCF-7 breast cancer and A549 lung cancer cells. Characterization by FTIR, DSC, NMR and mass spectrometry confirms encapsulation and structural integrity. ADMET profiling supports drug-likeness. The daidzein-beta-cyclodextrin complex induces S-phase arrest and apoptosis in MCF-7 cells, while the ternary complex shows cytotoxicity against lung cancer cells, providing plant-derived pharmaceutical leads with enhanced stability, solubility, and cellular uptake profiles consistently.
