Abstract: The present invention relates to a cognitive urban environmental hazard avoidance system with predictive fog analytics and dynamic exposure-based routing. The system comprises a plurality of spatially distributed environmental sensor nodes configured to acquire real-time pollutant data, one or more fog gateways configured to process the acquired data, a cloud coordination unit, a user device providing location information, and a routing engine. The fog gateway determines temporal variation in pollutant concentration, identifies a predicted environmental hazard condition, and generates a dynamic local hazard map using spatially distributed sensor data. The cloud coordination unit aggregates hazard information and compares the same with a present or prospective route of a user. When the route intersects a current or predicted hazardous region, the routing engine evaluates alternative route sections based on environmental exposure and provides an alternative route having reduced cumulative exposure. The system thereby enables proactive, location-aware environmental hazard avoidance.
