MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611109967 A) filed by Kavish Ahuja on September 14, 2026, for “dual Control Remote And Dashboard Operated 4-Step Automatic Hydraulic Engine Bonnet Opening And Closing System”.
Inventor includes Kavish Ahuja.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses a dual control automatic engine bonnet opening and closing system for vehicles, operable through both a remote key fob and a dashboard-mounted push button. The system comprises a key fob having an ON/OFF switch and a bonnet button, a dashboard push button provided on a driver side panel, a pair of hydraulic cylinders mounted on the left and right sides of an engine bonnet, a hydraulic pump operatively connected to the hydraulic cylinders, an electronic control unit (ECU), and a position sensor. The ECU operates the engine bonnet through a four-step sequence, wherein a first actuation opens the bonnet to 45°, a second actuation opens it fully to 90°, a third actuation closes the bonnet to 45°, and a fourth actuation fully closes the bonnet with a soft-landing hydraulic action, following which a step counter automatically resets. A safety interlock incorporated within the ECU ensures that bonnet operation is permitted only when the vehicle speed is zero and the gear is in the Park position, thereby preventing unsafe actuation. The invention eliminates manual lifting effort and provides a safe, convenient, and precisely controlled means of accessing the engine compartment.
