Abstract: ABSTRACT “REPORTING CHANNEL STATE INFORMATION AND PRECODING DATA IN A WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM” The present invention relates to a method and system for capability reporting for reporting channel state information in a wireless communication system. The method includes receiving a CSI-RS transmitted over a plurality of transmit antenna ports from a network apparatus (200). Further, the method includes estimating a downlink channel for the plurality of transmit antenna ports based on the CSI-RS received from the network apparatus (200). Further, the method includes determining a PMI for a type-2 codebook, based on the downlink channel obtained. The PMI is obtained using two dimensional Slepian basis functions. Further, the method includes transmitting the PMI as channel state information feedback to the network apparatus (200). Fig. 18
