Abstract: The present invention relates to a near-field wireless power transfer system for spatial localisation and selective suppression of an uncoded parasitic load within a charging aperture. The system comprises a transmit coil, a reconfigurable magnetic metasurface having a plurality of tunable inductive-capacitive unit cells, reflected- impedance measurement circuitry, a bias driver, and a controller. The controller cycles the metasurface through a predetermined set of configurations used both for magnetic-flux steering and as a sensing measurement basis. Reflected-impedance measurements are calibrated using an empty-aperture reference, correlated with valid receiver load-modulation codes, and processed to obtain a residual component orthogonal to the valid-code subspace. The residual is back-projected through a physically calibrated measurement representation to generate a spatial residual map for localisation of the parasitic load. The controller thereafter selectively retunes the metasurface to reduce magnetic flux at the localised parasitic mode while maintaining power delivery to identified wireless power receivers.
