Abstract: The present disclosure discloses system (100) and method for determining ethanol percentage in fuel in a vehicle. The method comprises emitting, by light emitting module (102), light (204) over volume of fuel upon detecting refuelling of vehicle. Further, method comprises receiving, by light receiving module (104), light (204) transmitted through fuel. Further, method comprises determining, by control unit (106), absorbance value of the light (204) based on 10 initial intensity (206) and transmitted intensity (208) of light (204) and determining molar concentration of the fuel based on absorbance value. Also, method comprises determining ethanol percentage in fuel by comparing absorbance value and molar concentration of fuel with prestored reference matrix and determining voltage value proportional to ethanol percentage.
