Abstract: SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR POTHOLE DETECTION AND AUDIO GUIDANCE Abstract of the Invention The present invention relates to a system and method for pothole detection and audio guidance for assisting user navigation. The system captures images of a travel path using a camera-equipped device and processes the images using a YOLOv5-based object detection model to identify potholes in real time. A distance estimation module determines the distance of each detected pothole from the user, which is further converted into an equivalent number of walking steps for intuitive understanding. A hazard prioritization module selects the most relevant pothole based on proximity and risk criteria. An audio guidance module generates real-time speech-based alerts indicating the presence and proximity of potholes. The generated audio output is delivered through an audio device to assist safe navigation. The invention enhances mobility, safety, and independence of users, particularly visually impaired persons, by providing real-time detection and audio-based hazard communication within 140 words.
