Abstract: “Ultrafiltration Membranes Coated with Natural Polymer Polyelectrolyte Multilayers for Virus Concentration and Recovery from Wastewater” The present invention discloses a fabrication method and a virus concentration membrane (100) for tangential flow filtration. The membrane (100) includes a polyethersulfone (PES) ultrafiltration membrane (105) and a polyelectrolyte multilayer coating (109) disposed on a feed-facing surface (106) of the PES ultrafiltration membrane (105). The polyelectrolyte multilayer coating (109) comprises alternating anionic carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) layers (107) and cationic chitosan (CHI) layers (108) arranged with a terminal CMC layer (107), thereby increasing hydrophilicity to reduce nonspecific adsorption of virus particles during tangential flow filtration.
