MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202433035259 A) filed by Institute Of Engineering & Management, Kolkata, West Bengal, on May 3, 2024, for '4-in-1 smart mask: automatic sanitization, safe distance alert, temp read, triple-layer protection against covid-19.'

Inventor(s) include Dibakar Roy Choudhury; Souhridya Bhattacharjee; and Debashis Saha.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This automated smart mask can sanitize our hands and belongings whenever we hold it within 20cm in front of that mask with the help of ultrasonic sensor. It's buzzer also creates a ring whenever there are persons or objects within 3ft for ensuring that everyone should maintain a safe distance from each other. This mask also shows the temperature of the person wearing it so that any changes in his/her body temperature can be easily identified by the other people so that they can take proper safety measures. This mask also offers triple layer of protection against viruses and pollutant. This mask can be easily programmed according to our requirement. This mask works on rechargeable battery and is fully automatic. This mask can be made more compact in future."
