MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611023955 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Delhi; and THDC India Limited, New Delhi, on Feb. 27, for 'a bi-directional torsional compliant assembly.'

Inventor(s) include Mukherjee, Sudipto; and Shubham.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a bi-directional torsional compliant assembly (100). The bi-directional torsional compliant assembly (100) includes an input shaft (102) adapted to receive a torsional input. An output shaft (110) coaxially coupled with the input shaft (102) and adapted to transfer the torsional input from the input shaft (102). An inner helical compliant element (106-2) arranged co-axially with an outer helical compliant element (106-1) and adapted to selectively couple with one of the input shaft (102) and the output shaft (110). A rotation of the input shaft (102) is adapted to transfer the torsional input to both the inner helical compliant element (106-2) and the outer helical compliant element (106-1) such that both the inner helical compliant element (106-2) is wound in a first direction and the outer helical compliant element (106-1) is wound in a second direction."
