MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611050805 A) filed by Graphic Era, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on April 21, for 'a biodegradable finger-cap toothbrush system with integrated sensors and ai-powered oral hygiene monitoring.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Suman Naithani; Ajay K. Gairola; and Dr. Madan Lal.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "In the technical field of oral hygiene devices, the invention relates to a biodegradable finger-cap toothbrush system with integrated sensors and AI-powered monitoring. The system comprises a hollow truncated-cone body (10) formed of a bamboo fiber-plant cellulose composite with an anti-slip inner lining (14); a dual-zone natural-fiber bristle array (16); an ultra-thin pressure sensor layer (20) embedded beneath the bristle array and comprising a grid of piezoresistive sensing nodes; a motion sensor module (22) housing a tri-axial accelerometer and gyroscope; a microcontroller (30) coupled via flexible printed conductive traces (24); a low-power wireless communication module (26); and a thin-film biodegradable power source (28), all encapsulated in a natural polymer sealant. A companion mobile application receives time-stamped pressure and motion data, applies supervised classification, anomaly detection and reinforcement learning models, and provides real-time haptic and audio feedback along with coverage heat maps and force distribution analytics to enhance oral hygiene."
