MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311077660 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, New Delhi, on May 15, 2024, for 'a biosignal-guided system for rehabilitation of patients with disability.'

Inventor(s) include Mehndiratta, Amit; and Singh, Neha.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a customizable bio-signal guided Virtual/ Augmented Reality based system (100) for neuro-rehabilitation of patients with disability due to neuromuscular disorders such as stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy etc. The rehabilitation system (100) of the present invention comprises a multi axis tool (101) with a locking mechanism, a plurality of sensors (119), a constraining means (115), a processing device or a controller (121), a plurality of motors (105) and a gear assembly (103). The system (100) of the present invention allows data from a plurality of sensors to be continuously monitored by the controller which inturn gives performance feedback to servo-motors and VR andin response to the feedback, the servo-motors controls movements of the multi axis tool in different ways in different modes. The movements are first calibrated and then customized for rehabilitation training according to individual patient needs depending on each patient's clinical presentation."
