MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411010265 A) filed by Amity University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Feb. 14, 2024, for 'a composite material designed to possess potent antibacterial properties against escherichia coli and bacillus subtilis.'

Inventor(s) include Shaheen Husain; and Maryam Sarwat.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a novel composite material with potent antibacterial properties, comprising Poly(e-caprolactone) (PCL), Silver (Ag), and Nano-Hydroxyapatite (nHA). This innovative material has demonstrated significant efficacy against Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis, making it ideal for applications in tissue engineering, medical devices, orthopedics, wound dressings, drug delivery, and other relevant fields. Antibacterial properties are validated through rigorous assays, including time kill assay, live-dead assay, and visual confirmation via scanning electron microscopy and confocal microscopy."
