MUMBAI, India, June 16 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611053790 A) filed by Noida Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on April 28, for 'a controlled release biofertilizer using microbial encapsulation technique.'

Inventor(s) include Neeraj Agarwal; and Dr. Narendra Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on June 5, under issue no. 23/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A controlled release biofertilizer system includes a microbial culture reservoir, a protective matrix preparation unit, an encapsulation module, a shell forming unit, a curing and drying assembly, a conditioned particle storage chamber, and an application interface. Beneficial microorganisms are immobilized within encapsulated particles containing viability protectants and optional nutrient adjuncts. The particles absorb soil moisture gradually, activate the microorganisms within a protected matrix, and release viable cells in a staged manner, thereby improving storage stability, rhizosphere persistence, and nutrient mobilization efficiency in agricultural applications."
