MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621010321 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on Jan. 31, for 'a cooling plate apparatus for thermal management of pouch cell battery modules.'

Inventor(s) include Tanmay N. Pathak; and Dr. Anirban Sur.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to an apparatus (100) for thermal management of pouch-cell battery modules, comprising an inlet channel (102) for receiving coolant, an outlet channel (104) for discharging coolant, a flow channel network (106) configured to route coolant across the cooling plate, a flow distribution manifold (108) arranged to direct coolant entering from the inlet channel (102) into multiple regions of the flow channel network (106), a pouch cell interface surface (110) positioned beneath the channel network to enable thermal contact with a pouch cell, and a coolant circulation unit (112) adapted to drive coolant through the apparatus. Coolant introduced through the inlet channel (102) is guided by the manifold (108) into the flow channel network (106) before exiting via the outlet channel (104), thereby establishing controlled coolant movement across the interface surface (110) to facilitate regulated heat dissipation within a battery module."
