MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441006513 A) filed by Kondapalli Abhishek, Madhira, Telangana, on Jan. 31, 2024, for 'a counting cup and a method thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A counting cup (100) is disclosed. The counting cup includes a zigzag path (102) embedded on an outer surface of the counting cup. The zigzag path facilitates a unidirectional movement exclusively in a clockwise manner. The counting cup includes a ball (104) placed inside the zigzag path. The ball acts as a visual marker. The ball moves unidirectionally in the clockwise manner at each occurrence when the counting cup is inverted from an upright position to dispense a sample from the counting cup to a container and subsequently brought back to the upright position. The counting cup includes a rim (106) located at a base circumference of the counting cup. The rim includes a plurality of marked numbers in at least two rounds. Each of the plurality of marked numbers corresponds to the position of the ball moving in the zigzag path thereby indicating the count."
