MUMBAI, India, Oct. 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311028558 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on April 19, 2023, for 'a cover assembly for trailer hitch opening.'
Inventor(s) include Rajiv Sathasivam; Rajesh Rao; Soham Salunkhe; and Manu Vrushabendra Swamy.
The application for the patent was published on Oct. 25, under issue no. 43/2024.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A cover assembly 100 for closing a trailer hitch 202 opening in a vehicle includes a frame 102 defining an opening 406 that allows the trailer hitch 202 to move to an operational position, in which the trailer hitch 202 projects out and in a non-operational position, in which the trailer hitch 202 is fully within the opening, and a fabric cover 106 configured with the frame 102 to slidably move by means of an actuator mechanism in a lateral direction such that, when the trailer hitch 202 is in the operational position, a rubber part 110 mounted on the frame 102 covers a remaining portion of the opening 406 as the fabric cover 106 closes at least a portion of the opening 406, thereby minimizing entry of noise into a cabin of the vehicle and accumulation of dust even in the operational position of the trailer hitch 202."
