MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621028216 A) filed by Dr. Vishwanath Karad Mit World Peace University, Pune, Maharashtra, on March 10, for 'a device for integrated assistive mobility.'

Inventor(s) include Naresh B. Chaudhari; Hrishikesh Gade; Sarthak Nilesh Kakad; Samarth Kharat; Shivtej Naik Nimbalkar; and Sachin N. Patil.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a device (100) for assistive mobility integrating mobility, transfer, ambulation support, and monitoring within a single assembly. The device (100) comprises a wheelchair (102) including a seat base (104), a back support (106), arm supports (108), and ground engaging wheels (110) enabling user movement. A seat transfer mechanism (112) is disposed beneath the seat base (104) and is configured to permit controlled lateral displacement of the seat base (104). A walker (114) is mounted to frontal portion of the wheelchair (102) and includes support arms (116) and a cross member (118), the walker (114) being pivotally connected through a hinge based mounting joint (120) to transition between stowed and deployed positions. A sensing assembly (122) is mounted to the wheelchair (102), and a motor (124) may be operatively coupled to the ground engaging wheels (110) for powered propulsion."
