MUMBAI, India, Jan. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311045172 A) filed by GLA University, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on July 5, 2023, for 'a diagnosis kit for paratuberculosis (johne's disease) plate elisa antibody.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Jagdip Singh Sohal; Dr. Mukta Jain; and Dr. Indranil Saha.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 10, under issue no. 02/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a low-cost diagnosis kit for paratuberculosis (Johne's Disease) plate Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) antibody. In the present invention, an in-house Purified Protoplasmic Antigen (PPA) using field strain of MAP (MJ-56) has been used which has been isolated from buffalo suffering with terminal paratuberculosis. The in-house Purified Protoplasmic Antigen (PPA) is prepared and used for optimization of the plate ELISA for antibody-based diagnosis of paratuberculosis in animals. The present invention has comparable sensitivity and specificity to available commercial kits. This newly optimized plate ELISA kit is highly reproducible on both inter and intra assay ground. The present invention has been optimized in such a format that it can be used directly at farms in pen-side format using handheld ELISA reader."
