MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631019045 A) filed by C. V. Raman Global University, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on Feb. 19, for 'a dynamic qr code-based automated attendance management system with anti-proxy mechanism for educational institutions.'
Inventor(s) include Nitish Tiwari; Priyanshu Paul; Sonacxcy Praharaj; Lagna Baibhavi Nayak; Rahul Kumar; Nilkamal Ghosh; and Dr Tushar Khanti Dash.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a dynamic QR code-based automated attendance management system designed for educational institutions as a cost-effective alternative to biometric and facial recognition systems. The system comprises a teacher-facing web application, a student-facing mobile application, and a cloud-hosted backend server with a relational database. Upon session initiation by the teacher, the backend generates a cryptographically unique, time-bound QR code containing a session-specific token with a configurable expiry window. Students scan this QR code using the mobile application, which transmits the token alongside authenticated student credentials and device fingerprint data to the backend server for multi-step validation including token authenticity, expiry status, and duplicate scan detection. Validated scans are recorded as attendance entries in real time. The system effectively eliminates proxy attendance through time-bound token expiry and single-use-per-student enforcement. An optional AI-based facial recognition module provides an additional biometric verification layer. The teacher dashboard enables real-time monitoring, session management, and report generation. The system integrates with existing institutional platforms via RESTful APIs. Built on standard web and mobile development frameworks without proprietary hardware requirements, the invention is scalable, deployable across diverse institutional environments, and maintains attendance data integrity through industry-standard security practices."
