MUMBAI, India, Aug. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421011554 A) filed by G. H. Raisoni College Of Engineering; and G. H. R. Labs And Research Centre, Nagpur, Maharashtra, on Feb. 19, 2024, for 'a flywheel based electric vehicle charging system.'

Inventor(s) include Giratkar, Om Harishchandra; Deotale, Dushant Prabhakar; Chormale, Bhagwan Kumar; Barapatre, Abhinav Rajendrakumar; and Adware, Ramchandra.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 22, under issue no. 34/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention is related to a flywheel (104) based electric vehicle charging system introduces a groundbreaking approach to energy storage and delivery for EVs. This system utilizes a high-speed, high-inertia flywheel (104) to store and release energy efficiently. An advanced bearing system minimizes friction, optimizing energy storage and retrieval. The integration of a magnetic disc (106) and coil (107) facilitates seamless energy conversion, while a battery (109) acts as a stabilizing buffer for consistent energy output. With a gearbox (102) regulating flywheel (104) speed and a pulley (101) system for precise energy transfer, the technology ensures efficient conversion of rotational energy into electrical energy for EV charging. The system's transparency-enhanced casing combines protection with visibility. This innovation offers rapid charging, high efficiency, reliability, and reduced environmental impact, marking a significant stride towards sustainable EV infrastructure and widespread adoption."
