MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611048329 A) filed by Integral University, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on April 16, for 'a framework for requirement management in agile software development.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Kashif Asad; Dr. Mohd. Faizan Farooqui; and Dr. Nafees Akhter Farooqui.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Agile Software Development (ASD) addresses the challenge of evolving requirements through effective Requirement Management (RM), with Requirement Prioritization (RP) playing a pivotal role in enhancing planning, scheduling, and budget management. This research proposes a novel framework utilizing the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to categorize software requirements into Small Change Requests (SCRs) and Large Change Requests (LCRs) based on complexity, impact, and timeline considerations. The framework aligns with Agile principles of transparency and continuous improvement, improving collaboration, synchronizing development objectives with stakeholder goals, and expediting decision-making processes. Validated through case studies examining multiple Agile projects, the integration of SCR-LCR classification with AHP demonstrates enhanced requirement management efficacy. The research further introduces AgileRM, a web-based tool developed on the WAMP platform that automates requirement management, enabling scalable and portable implementation across diverse Agile methodologies including SCRUM, Kanban, XP, and DSDM, thereby providing software professionals with practical mechanisms to manage continuous requirement modifications while maintaining stakeholder satisfaction and organizational value."
