MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611026434 A) filed by Guru Kashi University, Bathinda, Punjab, on March 6, for 'a hardware-integrated system for constraint-based hostel accommodation allocation and access control.'
Inventor(s) include Bihari Sharma; Dr. Gurpreet Singh; and Rachna Rajput.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a hardware-integrated system for constraint-based hostel accommodation allocation and access control. The system includes a central control unit configured to receive accommodation request parameters and coordinate allocation processing. A constraint processing engine processes the request parameters to generate machine-processable constraint outputs representing allocation eligibility conditions. An accommodation allocation unit evaluates accommodation availability records stored in an allocation repository to determine at least one candidate hostel accommodation unit satisfying the constraint outputs and enables selection of a candidate accommodation unit based on user confirmation. A room control module converts an access authorization instruction into hardware control signals for operating a smart lock mechanism associated with the hostel accommodation unit. An access and sensing unit performs authentication and detects occupancy conditions within the hostel accommodation unit, wherein occupancy detection signals are used to update allocation records and enable dynamic management of hostel accommodation resources."
