MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511126270 A) filed by Swami Rama Himalayan University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, on Dec. 13, 2025, for 'a heart rate variability biofeedback system for perioperative care for anesthesia management and postoperative recovery.'

Inventor(s) include Nirupa Ramakumar.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention relates to a biofeedback system for perioperative care that integrates a sensor module for non invasive capture of physiological signals via an ECG lead or wearable pulse monitor, and a data acquisition and processing unit that computes heart rate variability parameters including time domain and spectral metrics. A visual and auditory feedback interface provides continuous graphical displays and synchronized sound cues, while a breathing guidance module offers paced breathing instructions at a resonance frequency of approximately 4.5 to 6.5 cycles per minute. An integration and communication module transmits computed parameters wirelessly or via wired links to external systems, and a supplemental guided imagery and relaxation component delivers multimedia cues. Filtering and artifact cancellation enhance the reliability of the captured signals for improved anesthesia management and postoperative recovery."
