MUMBAI, India, March 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641003362 A) filed by Dr. Meeramani N; Dr. Vishal Srivatsava; and Dr. N R. Solomon Jebaraj, Bangalore, Karnataka, on Jan. 13, for 'a library database query system using an ai chat interface for students.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Meeramani N; Dr. Vishal Srivatsava; and Dr. N R. Solomon Jebaraj.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This innovation describes a web-based library application that replaces traditional search forms with a conversational chatbot interface. The system allows users, including students, to query a centralized book database using natural language text or voice input and to ask for book recommendations. All responses are generated strictly with reference to the stored database records. The platform runs as a web app built with Next.js and Vercel's AI SDK. Students can ask questions about books by title, author, category, ISBN (if available), or availability, and they can continue with follow-up questions in the same chat to narrow down results. Each student profile stores past chat sessions so they can be searched and resumed later, allowing students to continue their work without losing context. Students can use voice input instead of typing, a speech to text model handles voice input and applies the same checks as typed text. The database stores basic book details such as title, author,' category, optional ISBN, and availability status. The system keeps strict limits on data access which makes it suitable for academic settings where correctness matters. The chatbot only responds to student questions about the library system and its book data. It refuses any questions outside this scope. This helps keep answers clear, safe, and predictable."
