MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511123909 A) filed by Noida Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Dec. 9, 2025, for 'a method for evaluation of benzimidazole-bearing 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives.'

Inventor(s) include Dr Salahuddin; Dr Avijit Mazumder; Ms Gunjan; Dr Rajnish Kumar; Mr Abhijit Debanth; and Mrs Bhavani Pentela.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein is a method for synthesis, characterization, and anticonvulsant evaluation of novel benzimidazole-bearing 1,3,4-Oxadiazole derivatives (100) comprises synthesizing benzimidazole-bearing 1,3,4-oxadiazole derivatives (102) by providing a benzimidazole precursor (104) and reacting it with a hydrazide derivative (106) in the presence of an activating agent to form an intermediate hydrazone. This hydrazone is cyclized (108) under controlled temperature and solvent conditions with a dehydrating agent to obtain the target 1,3,4-oxadiazole moiety linked to the benzimidazole scaffold. The synthesized derivatives are characterized (110) by melting point determination and evaluated for anticonvulsant activity (112) by administering a predetermined dose (114) and assessing seizure protection using standard experimental models (116). Seizure onset time, type, and dose-response relationships are recorded and analyzed (118) to determine efficacy."
