MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611025968 A) filed by Noida Institute Of Engineering & Technology, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on March 5, for 'a method for evaluation of buchanania lanzan in ovalbumin and aluminium hydroxide induced allergic rhinitis.'
Inventor(s) include Dr Priyanka Bansal; Mrs Bhavani Pentela; Mr Hari Niwas; Dr Avijit Mazumder; Dr Sharad Sharma; and Ms Chanchal Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein is a method (100) for evaluation of Buchanania lanzan in ovalbumin and aluminium hydroxide induced allergic rhinitis comprises collection of Buchanania lanzan seeds (102) and deposition of a voucher specimen (104) for taxonomic verification. The authenticated seeds (106) are washed, shade-dried, pulverized into fine powder, and stored in sealed containers. A predetermined quantity of the powder is subjected to Soxhlet extraction using ethanol (108), and the obtained extract is concentrated (110) under reduced pressure. The extract undergoes preliminary phytochemical screening (112) to identify secondary metabolites. An in-situ gel formulation (114) is prepared by dispersing thermosensitive and mucoadhesive polymers. Acute inhalation toxicity testing (116) is conducted to assess safety. Allergic rhinitis is induced (118), followed by administration (120) of the formulation and evaluation of nasal symptoms. Lung and nasal tissues are collected (122) for histopathological examination and immunohistochemical analysis (124), and the resulting data are statistically analyzed (126)."
