MUMBAI, India, Aug. 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411010372 A) filed by Ram Lal Anand College, University Of Delhi, New Delhi, on Feb. 14, 2024, for 'a method for extracting metagenomic dna from bioaerosols.'

Inventor(s) include Kumari, Shashi Prabha; Podia, Mansi; Hooda, Sunila; Diwan, Prerna; and Gupta, Rakesh Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 29, under issue no. 35/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The method for metagenomic DNA extraction from air sampled by the impingement process is disclosed. The method includes air sampling with saline as a collection medium for the BioSampler (Impinger), sample processing by filtration, and DNA extraction by manual CTAB (Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide) method. The present disclosure also provides a method for extracting metagenomic DNA from air samples obtained from a selected environment using an impinger."
