According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a standardized methanolic extract of Millingtonia hortensis leaves (MHME) with dual antibacterial and anthelmintic activity. The process (100) comprises plant selection (101), leaf collection and authentication (102), shade drying and coarse powdering (103), methanolic maceration (104), filtration and concentration (105), obtaining MHME extract (106), and subjecting the extract to in-vitro bioassays (107). The antibacterial evaluation (108) using a cup-plate diffusion method demonstrates dose-dependent inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. The anthelmintic evaluation (109) using Pheretima posthuma shows rapid paralysis and death at 0.1%-1.5% concentrations. The invention provides a reproducible, standardized extract rich in flavonoids, terpenoids, tannins, carbohydrates, and saponins, enabling development of natural, safe, and cost-effective therapeutics as alternatives to synthetic antimicrobial and anthelmintic agents."
