MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511102404 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 24, 2025, for 'a method for producing a whole food omega-7 concentrate with enhanced metabolic health benefits.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Polu Picheswara Rao; and Dr. Shubham Mishra.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method for producing a whole food omega-7 concentrate for metabolic health is disclosed. The method includes selecting omega-7-rich plant sources, washing, de-pulping or shelling, and mechanically cold-pressing to preserve palmitoleic acid, antioxidants, and micronutrients. The pressed material undergoes enzymatic enhancement to maximize bioactive availability, followed by homogenization with natural emulsifiers and stabilization under nitrogen flush to prevent oxidative degradation. Analytical monitoring using HPLC and spectrophotometry ensures reproducible bioactive content. The stabilized concentrate is formulated into spoonable purees, gelcaps, functional bars, or powders. The method delivers enhanced insulin sensitivity, triglyceride reduction, improved HDL/LDL balance, and systemic anti-inflammatory effects. Shelf-stable for over twelve months, the method preserves whole food matrix synergy, ensures palatability, consumer safety, and scalability, providing a robust solution for metabolic health supplementation with superior efficacy over conventional isolated omega-7 or fish oil products."
