MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521122365 A) filed by Hemangi Bunha; and Dr. Darshan Marjadi, Surat, Gujarat, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'a method for producing bioactive metabolite-enriched extracts from lignocellulosic substrates.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a biotechnological process for producing bioactive, metabolite-enriched extracts from lignocellulosic substrates for cosmetic and skincare applications. The process comprises sequential steps of substrate preparation, inoculation with a fungal consortium, solid-state fermentation, controlled drying, and solvent extraction under mild and eco-friendly conditions. The method enables efficient bioconversion of lignocellulosic biomass into extracts rich in naturally derived compounds such as phenolics, flavonoids, organic acids, and ergothioneine derivatives exhibiting antioxidant, anti-aging, and skin-conditioning properties."
