MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104029 A) filed by Manipal University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Oct. 29, 2025, for 'a method for providing subscription-linked micro-insurance through an automated digital platform.'
Inventor(s) include Mr. Shalin Khurana; and Ms. Vertika Goswami.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a method for providing subscription-linked micro-insurance through an automated digital platform. The method generally comprises the steps of collecting data to subscription type, payment confirmation, and usage frequency; automated policy mapping based on the data collected and activation of insurance policy; and conducting claim simulation and verification. Further, the invention proposes an integrated framework in which an insurance module that recognises and bundles a context-relevant micro-insurance policy is communicated with in real time by the platform's application programming interface (API) at the start or renewal of a subscription. To ensure affordability and equity, the premiums are either dynamically modified based on confirmed user behaviour and consumption patterns or seamlessly integrated into the subscription cost. By integrating risk protection into regular consumer transactions, this strategy addresses the issue of low insurance penetration, especially in developing nations. At the micro level, the system promotes increased financial inclusion, trust, and customer-centric protection by facilitating seamless coverage activation, scalable insurance distribution, and streamlined claim procedures."
