MUMBAI, India, Sept. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441010856 A) filed by M. V. Suresh Kumar, Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, on Feb. 16, 2024, for 'a method in utilization of edible oil and refined oil etp sludge for manufacturing of bricks.'

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 5, under issue no. 36/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates a method for manufacturing bricks from sludge derived from edible oil and refined oil manufacturing effluent treatment plants (ETP). The object of the present invention is to manufacture bricks with unique flow of mixing, drying, and curing process. The mixing process involves pan mixing of sludge with Fly ash, hydrated lime, OPC cement, and chemical solution is used as for creating a bonding and strengthen the brick. The object of the present invention is a method wherein 30~60 %of sludge from Refined Oil ETP or Edible Oil Industry ETP, 40~45% of fly ash, 15 % of Lime, OPC cement 10~20%, varying percentage of chemical solution are mixed and hydraulically pressed in mould dies and dried for 3 days open sun dry and 28 days of curing in water so to produce bricks, blocks, tiles with of high strength for having usages in civil construction industry."
