MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411004700 A) filed by Rajasthan University Of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Bikaner, Rajasthan, on Jan. 23, 2024, for 'a method of characterization of coat colour of animals.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Nistha Yadav; Dr. Urmila Pannu; and Dr. Ved Prakash.
The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a method of characterization of coat colour of animals. The method comprises digital imaging of specific body parts of animals, running the digital images on a colour identification software to obtain coat colour pattern based on RGB values and recording different shades of basic coat colour pattern, converging the recorded shades of all the basic colour patterns by taking the highly frequent shades among all identified shades from different body parts of the animal in each of the basic coat colour. The present disclosure also relates to a catalogue and/or chart of coat colour pattern in four Indian dromedary camel breeds (Camelus dromedarius) namely, Bikaneri, Jaisalmeri, Kachchhi and Mewari."
