MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517111347 A) filed by National Centre For Biological Sciences, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Nov. 14, 2025, for 'a method of obtaining granular form of pigment from the microbial cells.'
Inventor(s) include Badrinarayanan, Anjana; Raghunathan, Suchitha; and Moirangthem, Selena.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a method of extraction and drying to granular form, of pigment from microbial cells. More specifically, the present invention provides a method of extraction of intracellular, polar solvent soluble pigments and extracellular, water-immiscible polar solvent soluble pigments from microbes, followed by drying of the same to granular form."
