MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411023766 A) filed by Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research, New Delhi, on March 26, 2024, for 'a modular fixture system for machining of surgical artery forceps of various shapes, sizes.'

Inventor(s) include Sudip Kumar Samanta; Siddappa Yellappa Pujar; Saurav Halder; Anmol Khalkho; Samit Biswas; and Munshi Amirul Alam.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to modular fixture system for machining of surgical artery forceps of various shapes, sizes which are used for controlling bleeding and for the retraction of tissues, skin, etc during surgical procedures. The fixture includes a modular common base with suitable numbers of mounting holes to accommodate 04 different set up fixtures which completes the total machining of the component, position and orientation of the individual set up fixtures are ensured by using a set of dowel pins. Specially designed adjustable (spring loaded) rest pads, locators, orientation pins and clamps with adjustable thrust pads enable the fixture to accommodate the forged Stainless steel blanks with up to 15% or more. Level of flexibility in the fixture empowers the user with freedom to use this same fixture setup for machining of surgical artery forceps of different shapes, sizes just by using different interchangeable accessories."
