MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521039599 A) filed by Dr Deepak Goyal, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on April 24, for 'a multi-edged precision surgical instrument.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A surgical instrument (300) for invasive surgeries is disclosed. The surgical instrument (300) includes a handpiece (102), a shaft (101), and a modular blade (100, 200). The shaft (101) extends longitudinally from the handpiece (102). The modular blade (100, 200) is connected to the shaft (101) and is defined with a plurality of edges (110, 120, 210, 220). The surgical instrument (300) eliminates requirement of more than one curette/ instrument in order to cut/ 10 scrap multiple tissues to different depths during the invasive surgery."
