MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521059476 A) filed by Sundardas Raghunath Gore; and Seema Sundardas Gore, Ahmadnagar, Maharashtra, on June 20, for 'a non-surgical multimodal therapeutic system for keratoconus management and corneal remodeling.'
Inventor(s) include Sundardas Raghunath Gore.
The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A keratoconus scleral contact lens for comprehensive keratoconus and other corneal ectatic disorders treatment is disclosed. The lens features a reservoir space between the lens body and corneal surface for sustained retention of riboflavin-based gel composition, controlled mechanical pressure for corneal remodeling, strategically positioned micro-perforations for oxygen exchange, and dual-surface coatings with hydrophilic inner surfaces for drug retention and hydrophobic outer surfaces for contamination resistance. The standardized curvature eliminates custom fitting while alternating day/night treatment optimizes mechanical remodeling and biochemical healing. Non-surgical and cost-effective, the system enables UV-free collagen crosslinking, corneal preconditioning for enhanced C3R outcomes, and broad applicability across pediatric, early-stage, and post-LASIK ectasia patients."
