MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611049743 A) filed by Registrar, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana, on April 19, for 'a novel bupropion-loaded nanoemulsion-based labial.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a nanoemulsion-based labial stick composition comprising bupropion or its pharmaceutically acceptable salt, an oil phase, a surfactant, a co-surfactant, an aqueous phase, and a wax base, wherein the composition is adapted for translabial delivery. The formulation enables efficient delivery of the active agent through the lip tissue, facilitating systemic absorption while bypassing first-pass metabolism. The invention provides an improved drug delivery system with enhanced bioavailability, permeability, and patient compliance, particularly useful for therapeutic applications such as smoking cessation."
