MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521124098 A) filed by Kartikeya Mishra; Dr. H. L. Tiwari; and Ankit Jain, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on Dec. 9, 2025, for 'a novel method for predicting reservoir sedimentation rate.'

Inventor(s) include Kartikeya Mishra; Dr. H. L. Tiwari; and Ankit Jain.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein is a novel method for predicting reservoir sedimentation rate (100) comprises collecting reservoir characteristic data (102) including catchment area expressed in square kilometers, reservoir volume expressed in million cubic meters, and age of the reservoir expressed in years. The method also includes inputting the collected reservoir characteristic data into a multiple linear regression model (104). The method also includes performing multiple regression analysis (106) to determine the correlation between the sedimentation rate as a dependent output variable and the catchment area. The method also includes processing, through the regression model, sedimentation data (108) to generate optimized regression coefficients for predicting sedimentation rate specific to. The method also includes classifying reservoirs based on an area-volume ratio factor Rs (110) to enhance prediction accuracy and enable comparison with existing empirical equations. The method also includes outputting the predicted reservoir sedimentation rate (112)."
