According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention may relate to the field of ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology, particularly to medical devices for treating nasolacrimal duct obstructions. A permanent nasolacrimal drainage device (12) may comprise a continuous hollow silicon tube (24) configured to form a pathway through upper and lower canaliculi with open ends positionable in a nasal cavity. The device (12) may further comprise a plurality of perforations configured to receive biological fluid from the ocular surface. The permanent nasolacrimal drainage device (12) may additionally comprise a disc (20) positioned on the continuous hollow silicon tube (24) and configured to prevent dislocation of the device during patient activities. The device (12) may also comprise at least one securing means (26) configured to secure ends of the continuous hollow silicon tube (24) in the nasal cavity to prevent dislodgement, thereby providing long-term drainage solution."
