MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621029063 A) filed by Lnct University, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on March 11, for 'a pharmaceutical composition comprising epigallocatechin gallate for accelerated wound healing.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a topical wound healing composition and bioactive dressing system comprising epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) derived from green tea. The composition promotes wound healing through multiple mechanisms including antioxidant activity, inhibition of inflammatory cytokines, antimicrobial action, angiogenesis promotion, and antifibrotic effects. The EGCG is incorporated within biocompatible carrier matrices such as hydrogels, nanofibers, nanoparticles, or polymeric scaffolds to enable sustained release at the wound site. The invention provides an effective therapeutic solution for treating acute and chronic wounds while reducing scar formation."
