MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411002299 A) filed by Birla Institute Of Technology & Science, Pilani, Rajasthan, on Jan. 11, 2024, for 'a pharmaceutical composition of posaconazole having oligosaccharides and a method of making it.'

Inventor(s) include Akash Chaurasiya; and Kanan Panchal.

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition of posaconazole. The pharmaceutical composition of posaconazole provides improved dissolution rate of the drug. The present invention improved drug solubility, thereby increasing the drug loading and possibly decrease in the unit dose requirement. This was achievable by using oligosaccharides in the capacity of complexing agents selected from -cyclodextrin, maltodextrin, and 2-hydroxypropyl--cyclodextrin also called HP--CD."
