MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641051260 A) filed by Nitte College Of Pharmaceutical Sciences; Nitte Meenakshi Institute Of Technology; Dr. N V L Sirisha Mulukuri; and Ms. Deepthi S, Bangalore, Karnataka, on April 22, for 'a polyphyto immune charger herbal tea sachet formulation and a method of preparation thereof.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a polyphyto immune charger herbal tea sachet formulation and to a method of preparation thereof. The invention addresses the long-felt need in the art for a single, caffeine-free, shelf-stable, palatable, ready-to-infuse tea sachet that simultaneously delivers immunomodulatory, antioxidant and anti-obesity activity in one dosage form. The formulation comprises a porous filter-paper sachet (106) heat-sealed at top (108) and bottom (110), fitted with a cotton thread (102), a staple fastener (104) and a paper tag (100), and containing a homogeneous dry-blended powder (112) of nine medicinal herbs, namely Andrographis paniculata, Ocimum sanctum, Zingiber officinale, Syzygium aromaticum, Cinnamomum verum, Withania somnifera, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Cymbopogon flexuosus and Curcuma longa, in rationally optimised weight-by-weight proportions. The said formulation exhibits a moisture content of 10.24 percent, a total ash value of 19.3 percent, a DPPH antioxidant IC50 of 944.59 7.17 g/mL, a CTC50 of 169.8 g/mL on THP-1 human leukaemia monocytes and quantifiable anti-obesity cytotoxicity on 3T3-L1 murine pre-adipocytes. The method of preparation comprises selection and authentication, cleaning and drying, grinding and sieving, weighing, dry-blending, sachet-filling, heat-sealing with thread and tag attachment, quality evaluation and secondary packaging. The present invention ensures a convenient, eco-friendly, solvent-free and universally acceptable delivery of an Ayurvedic polyphyto immunity booster in a modern tea-sachet format suitable for mass consumption."
