MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641025942 A) filed by Rajalakshmi Engineering College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on March 5, for 'a portable fatigue- aware wrong-way warning and digital road-rule alert system for commercial drive.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. M. Thangamani; and Mr. Vinish Alikkal.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A portable fatigue-aware wrong-way warning and digital road-rule a len system for commercial vehicle drivers is disclosed. The system includes a motion sensing module and an optional vehicle interface module configured to acquire vehicle motion and steering-related data. A fatigue feature computation module extracts driving-behavior features, which arc processed by a fatigue assessment module to compute a continuous Fatigue Behavior Index indicative of driver fatigue or micro-sleep likelihood. A positioning alll.l heading module cooperates with a locally stored digital road-rule database to identifY one-way, ramp-direction, ami no-entiy restrictions for road segments. A wrong-way detection module determines violations based on vehicle direction relative to permitted travel rules. A warning control module prioritizes immediate wrong-way alerts over graded fatigue alerts and drives haptic, visual, and acoustic output modules using simple, language-independent cues. The systcni is implemented as a selfcontained, pot1able in-cabin device and operates without electricaL logical, or mechanical control over vehicle propulsion, steering, or braking subsystems."
